Wolves 1-0 Southampon: Wolves deliver their first win of the campaign

Southampton on away loss to Wolves at Molineux Stadium on Saturday. Wolves arrived with the intention of improving their league position following a disappointing 0-0 draw with Bournemouth in their previous game. Soton, meanwhile, had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 2-1 victory against Chelsea. Wolves are currently 14th with 6 points from 6 matches, while Soton sit in 11th, with 7 points from 6.

Wolves started strongly in the first half, when Daniel Podence gave them the lead just before half-time The second half ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

Substitutions for Wolves included Goncalo Guedes, Adama Traore and Hee-chan Hwang for Sasa Kalajdzic, Pedro Neto and Daniel Podence, respectively. Soton brought on Moussa Djenepo, Stuart Armstrong, Samuel Edozie, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Sekou Mara, to replace Ibrahima Diallo, Mohamed Elyounoussi, Romain Perraud, Joe Aribo and Adam Armstrong.

There were bookings for Jonny Castro, Joao Moutinho, Ruben Neves and Goncalo Guedes from Wolves, and Ibrahima Diallo and Armel Bella-Kotchap, for Soton.

Wolves will next play Liverpool away, with Soton facing Brentford at home.
