Cuiaba 2 – Coritiba 1: Visitors leave Arena Pantanal empty handed

Cuiaba defeated Coritiba 2-1 on Sunday at Arena Pantanal. Cuiaba were looking to get back to winning ways after losing their last match 3-0 to Atl. Mineiro. Coritiba had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with Corinthians. Following this match, Cuiaba and Coritiba sit 16th (41 points) and 15th (42 points) in the league respectively, after a total of 38 matches.

Cuiaba started the first half well, when Alan Empereur found the net, 37 minutes in. Cuiaba then scored once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Jonathan Cafu just before half-time to see out the first half 2-0.

Coritiba took the lead in the second half, thanks to a goal from Leo Gamalho in the 76th minute so at full time it was 2-1 to Cuiaba.

Substitutions for Cuiaba included Felipe Marques, Sidcley, Kelvin Osorio, Rodriguinho and Lucas Cardoso for Andre Luis, Igor Carius, Rafael Gava, Deyverson and Jonathan Cafu, respectively. Coritiba brought on Leo Gamalho, Jose Hugo Sousa dos Santos, Robinho, Nathan and Willian Farias, to replace Cadorini, Fabricio Daniel, Regis, Natanael and Jesus Trindade.

The referee booked Andre Luis from Cuiaba. Coritiba had the worst of it though, with Fabricio Daniel, Jesus Trindade, Alef Manga and Willian Farias seeing yellow, and Alef Manga (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.
