West Ham 1-1 Spurs: The Irons on top but fail to beat The Lilywhites

On Wednesday, The Hammers and Spurs played out a 1-1 draw at London Stadium. Both The Hammers and Spurs arrived fresh from some positive results. The Hammers were looking to continue their good run, following a 1-0 victory against Aston Villa while Spurs were hoping to continue their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Hammers and Spurs sit 14th, (4 points) and 3rd, (11 points), in the league respectively, after 5 matches.

Spurs found the net first, when Thilo Kehrer gave them the lead, 34 minutes in, to take a 1-0 lead into half time.

The Hammers started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with a goal from Tomas Soucek, 55 minutes in, leaving the final score at 1-1.

Substitutions for The Hammers included Lucas Paqueta, Angelo Ogbonna and Emerson for Said Benrahma, Aaron Cresswell and Pablo Fornals, respectively. Spurs replaced Richarlison with Dejan Kulusevski.

There were bookings for Lucas Paqueta and Emerson from The Hammers, and Yves Bissouma, Davinson Sanchez, Ben Davies, Richarlison and Ivan Perisic, for Spurs.

The Hammers will next travel to Chelsea, while Spurs will face Fulham at home.
