Spurs 3 – Leicester 1: Visitors leave Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with nothing

Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-1 win over Leicester City on Sunday, was hard fought at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Spurs wanted to improve their league standing following a disappointing 0-0 draw with Brentford in their previous game. Leicester secured a point against Aston Villa in their previous match. Following today’s result, Spurs are in 4th place on the table and has 61 points while Leicester sit in 11th with 42 points after 35 matches.

The first half of the game started well for Spurs, thanks to Harry Kane finding the net, at 22 minutes, finalising the first half 1-0.

The Lilywhites continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Heung Min Son, 60 minutes in. The momentum was now with Spurs, who then scored again through a second effort from Heung Min Son in the 79th minute to establish a 3-0. In the end though, Leicester just before the final whistle hit back though via a Kelechi Iheanacho goal and seeing the game end 3-1.

Both coaches used all available substitutions. For Spurs, Dejan Kulusevski, Harry Winks and Steven Bergwijn, came on for Lucas Moura, Rodrigo Bentancur and Heung Min Son, Leicester brought on Jamie Vardy, Lewis Brunt and Youri Tielemans to replace Patson Daka, Boubakary Soumare and Ayoze Perez.

There were bookings for Ben Davies and Rodrigo Bentancur from Spurs, and Marc Albrighton, Daniel Amartey and Luke Thomas, for Leicester.

Spurs will next play Liverpool away, with Leicester facing Everton at home.
