Spurs 4-3 Leeds: Bentancur double saves Tottenham’s blushes

On Saturday, Leeds United suffered an away defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Spurs were hoping to get something from this game after losing 2-1 to Liverpool in their last match. Leeds were coming from consecutive wins against Bournemouth and Liverpool. Spurs are now in 3rd place, with 29 points from 16 matches, while Leeds sit in 14th, with 15 points from 16.

Leeds dominated the first half, when Crysencio Summerville found the net in the 10th minute. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Harry Kane producing an equaliser in the 25th minute, bringing Spurs level. However, The Whites reestablished their lead following a Rodrigo Moreno goal just before half-time to see out the first half 2-1.

The Lilywhites staged a comeback in the second half, with a goal from Ben Davies on the 51 minute mark. However, each side looked hungry to win and Leeds then found the back of the net, 76 minutes in thanks to Rodrigo Moreno, taking the score to 3-2. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Rodrigo Bentancur producing an equaliser, at 81 minutes, bringing Spurs level. However they weren’t finished yet and Rodrigo Bentancur made it 4-3 in the 83rd minute to make it 4-3.

Substitutions for Spurs included Davinson Sanchez, Matt Doherty, Yves Bissouma and Lucas Moura for Clement Lenglet, Emerson, Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski, respectively. Leeds brought on Sam Greenwood, Luke Ayling, Mateo Joseph Fernandez and Joe Gelhardt, to replace Degnand Wilfried Gnonto, Marc Roca, Rasmus Kristensen and Rodrigo Moreno.

The referee booked Rodrigo Bentancur from Spurs. Leeds had the worst of it though, with Marc Roca and Tyler Adams seeing yellow, and Tyler Adams (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.

Spurs will play their next fixture away against Brentford, while Leeds will face Manchester City at home.
