Soton 2 – Everton 0: Visitors leave St. Mary’s Stadium empty handed

Soton enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Everton at St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday. Soton wanted to improve their league standing following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Manchester United in their previous game. Everton had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 3-0 victory against Leeds United. As the table looks today, Soton and Everton currently occupy 10th and 16th spots in the table, with 32 points and 22 points respectively after 26 matches.
After a goalless first half, Whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on Soton who started the second half well, thanks to a goal from Stuart Armstrong in the 52nd minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Shane Long made it 2-0 at the 84 minute mark to make it 2-0.
Both managers used all available substitutions. For Soton, Shane Long, Adam Armstrong and Moussa Djenepo, came on for Armando Broja, Che Adams and Stuart Armstrong, Everton brought on Andre Gomes, Andros Townsend and Dele Alli, to replace Allan, Alex Iwobi and Anthony Gordon.
The referee booked Allan and Dominic Calvert-Lewin for Everton.
Soton next face Norwich City and Everton are at home to Manchester City.
