Notts Forest 1-0 Liverpool: Awoniyi goal sinks Klopp’s Reds

Nottingham Forest eased past Liverpool in a 1-0 victory on Saturday at City Ground. Forest were aiming to improve their league standing following a disappointing 0-0 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion in their previous game. Liverpool were hoping to continue their winning streak after back-to-back victories against West Ham United and Manchester City. Forest and Liverpool are 19th, (9 points) and 7th, (16 points), spots respectively, after 13 matches.
After an uneventful first half, whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on Red dogs who started the second half strongly, when Taiwo Awoniyi found the net in the 55th minute, seing the match finish 1-0.
Substitutions for Forest included Brennan Johnson, Joe Worrall, Renan Lodi and Orel Mangala for Jesse Lingard, Taiwo Awoniyi, Neco Williams and Cheikhou Kouyate, respectively. Liverpool brought on Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, to replace James Milner, Fabio Carvalho and Roberto Firmino.
There were bookings for Joe Worrall and Remo Freuler from Forest. For Liverpool, Joe Gomez saw yellow.
Forest will next travel to Arsenal, while Liverpool will face Leeds United at home.
