Newcastle 1-0 Everton: Almiron secures the points for The Magpies

Newcastle United strolled past Everton with a 1-0 win on Wednesday at St James’ Park. Newcastle were aiming to improve their league standing after a scoreless draw against Manchester United in their previous match. Everton had lost their previous match against Tottenham Hotspur. Newcastle are now in 5th place on the table and have 18 points while Everton sit in 15th with 10 points after 12 matches.

Newcastle started strongly in the first half, when Miguel Almiron found the net, at 31 minutes, finishing the first half 1-0. Both teams unable to deliver anything further, the score remained at 1-0 at full time.

Substitutions for Newcastle included Joseph Willock, Elliot Anderson, Ryan Fraser and Chris Wood for Joelinton, Jacob Murphy, Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson, respectively. Everton brought on Neal Maupay, James Garner and Dwight McNeil, to replace Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Alex Iwobi and Demarai Gray.

There were bookings for Joelinton and Fabian Schar from Newcastle. For Everton, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anthony Gordon, Idrissa Gueye and James Tarkowski saw yellow.

Newcastle will play their next fixture away against Tottenham Hotspur, while Everton will face Crystal Palace at home.
