Man U 3 – Spurs 2: The Red Devils triumph at home against The Lilywhites

Manchester United’s 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, was hard fought at Old Trafford. Man U were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to Manchester City while Spurs were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Everton and Leeds United. As it stands, Man U and Spurs currently occupy 4th and 7th spots in the league, with 50 points and 45 points respectively after 29 matches.

Man U started strongly in the first half, with Cristiano Ronaldo giving The Red Devils the lead at the 12 minute mark. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Harry Kane producing an equaliser, 35 minutes in, bringing The Lilywhites level. However, The Red Devils at the 38 minute mark reestablished their lead via another Cristiano Ronaldo goal. The first half ended 2-1.

Spurs took the lead in the second half, thanks to a goal from Harry Maguire, 72 minutes in. Man U in turn, then responded, 81 minutes in increasing their lead with a hat trick effort from Cristiano Ronaldo and seeing the game end 3-2.

Man U brought on Anthony Elanga, Edinson Cavani and Victor Lindelof for Marcus Rashford, Nemanja Matic and Cristiano Ronaldo. Spurs brought on Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn and Harry Winks, to replace Dejan Kulusevski, Ben Davies and Rodrigo Bentancur.

There were bookings for Fred and Paul Pogba from Man U. For Spurs, Eric Dier saw yellow.

Man U will play their next fixture away against Liverpool, while Spurs will face West Ham United at home.
