Man City 5 – Watford 1: No mercy for The Hornets as Cityzens take the points

Manchester City’s 5-1 win over Watford on Saturday, was hard fought at the Etihad Stadium. Man City wanted to continue adding points after a 2-2 draw against Liverpool. Watford were beaten 2-1 in the previous match against Brentford. As the table looks today, Man City are in 1st place on the table and has 80 points while Watford sit in 19th with 22 points after 34 matches.

Man City didn’t take long to get on the score-sheet, with an early goal from Gabriel Jesus in the 4th minute. Cityzens looked to have the game under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a effort from Gabriel Jesus at the 23 minute mark to establish a 2-0. However, The Hornets weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Hassane Kamara in the 28th minute. However, Man City secured the points emphatically, with a goal from Rodri in the 34th minute, finalising the first half 3-1.

Man City started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with an early penalty effort from Gabriel Jesus in the 49th minute. Man City then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a 4th effort from Gabriel Jesus, 53 minutes in to make it 5-1.

Both managers used allfull available substitutions. For Man City, Ilkay Gundogan, Nathan Ake and Riyad Mahrez, came on for Kevin De Bruyne, Aymeric Laporte and Rodri, Watford brought on Craig Cathcart, Joao Pedro and Edo Kayembe, to replace Samir, Ismaila Sarr and Imran Louza.

The referee booked Joao Cancelo for Man City.

Man City will next play Leeds United away, with Watford facing Burnley at home.
