Man City 4-0 Southampon: Another big win for City at the Etihad

Man City enjoyed a home victory against Southampton at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. Man City were looking to continue their good run after winning their previous two games in the competition. The most recent was against the Manchester United at home (6-3), the other to Wolverhampton Wanderers away (3-0). Soton were beaten 2-1 in their previous match against Everton. Man City are now in 1st place on the table and have 23 points while Soton sit in 16th with 7 points after 10 matches.

Man City started strongly in the first half, when Joao Cancelo opened the rout, 20 minutes in. Man City then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Phil Foden, 32 minutes in, to take a 2-0 lead into half time.

Cityzens started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with an early goal from Riyad Mahrez in the 49th minute. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Erling Haaland, at 65 minutes to make it 4-0.

Substitutions for Man City included Jack Grealish, Julian Alvarez, Cole Palmer, Sergio Gomez and Rico Lewis for Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, Joao Cancelo and Bernardo Silva, respectively. Soton brought on Moussa Djenepo, Mohamed Elyounoussi, Sekou Mara and Juan Lopez for Stuart Armstrong, Adam Armstrong, Joe Aribo and Kyle Walker-Peters.

The referee booked one player from Soton, Kyle Walker-Peters.

Man City will next play Liverpool away, with Soton facing West Ham United at home.
