Man City 6-0 Notts Forest: Haaland nets another hattrick as City thump Forest

Man City suffered an away loss to Manchester City on Wednesday at Etihad Stadium. Man City were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run, following a 4-2 victory against Crystal Palace whilst Forest had lost their previous match against Tottenham Hotspur. Man City are now in 2nd place, with 13 points from 5 matches, while Forest sit in 14th, with 4 points from 5.

Man City started strongly in the first half, when Erling Haaland opened the rout on the 12 minute mark. Cityzens looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a effort from Erling Haaland, at 23 minutes to establish a 2-0. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a hat trick effort from Erling Haaland in the 38th minute and saw the first half out 3-0.

Man City started the second half with renewed vigour, with an early goal from Joao Cancelo in the 50th minute. The momentum was again with Cityzens, who then scored again courtesy of a goal from Julian Alvarez, 65 minutes in to establish a 5-0 result. They then extended the lead with a 2nd effort from Julian Alvarez just before the final whistle to make it 6-0.

Substitutions for Man City included Riyad Mahrez, Cole Palmer, Sergio Gomez, Kevin De Bruyne and Rico Lewis for Rodri, Phil Foden, Joao Cancelo, Erling Haaland and John Stones, respectively. Forest replaced Taiwo Awoniyi, Emmanuel Dennis, Jack Colback, Harry Toffolo and Giulian Biancone with Brennan Johnson, Morgan Gibbs-White, Renan Lodi, Ryan Yates and Cheikhou Kouyate.

The referee booked Emmanuel Dennis for Forest.

Man City will play away against Aston Villa, while Forest will face Bournemouth at home.
