Man City were held to 2-2 draw by Liverpool down on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium. Both teams arrived on the back of wins. Man City were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning last match. Liverpool were coming from consecutive wins against Watford and Arsenal. Following today’s result, Man City and Liverpool currently occupy 1st and 2nd spots in the league, with 74 points and 73 points respectively after 32 matches.

Man City found the net first, thanks to an early goal from Kevin De Bruyne in the 5th minute. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Diogo Jota managed to equalize and take the sides off in the 13th minute at 1-1. However, each side looked hungry to win and Cityzens then found the back of the net in the 37th minute thanks to Gabriel Jesus, taking the score to 2-1. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Sadio Mane equalised for Liverpool just before half-time, finalising the first half 2-2. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the game ended 2-2.

For Man City, Riyad Mahrez and Jack Grealish, came on for Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus. Liverpool brought on Luis Diaz, Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino, to replace Diogo Jota, Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane.

There were bookings for Bernardo Silva from Man City, and Andy Robertson, Thiago, Fabinho and Virgil Van Dijk, for Liverpool.

Next up, Man City are away to Wolverhampton Wanderers, whilst Liverpool will travel to face Aston Villa.
