Brentford banked all three points against the Manchester City in a 2-1 victory on Saturday, at the Etihad Stadium. Man City were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two matches in the competition. The most recent was against the Fulham at home (2-1), the other to Leicester City away (1-0). Brentford, meanwhile, had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with Nottingham Forest. Man City are now in 2nd place on the table and have 32 points while Brentford sit in 10th with 19 points after 16 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Brentford, when Ivan Toney found the net, 16 minutes in. However, their lead was short-lived, as Phil Foden equalised for Man City just before half-time, to take a 1-1 lead into half time.

The Bees continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Ivan Toney found the net once more just before the final whistle. The match ended with a 2-1 victory for the visitors.

Substitutions for Man City included Julian Alvarez for Joao Cancelo, respectively. Brentford brought on Christian Norgaard, Yoane Wissa and Pelenda Da Silva, to replace Vitaly Janelt, Bryan Mbeumo and Frank Onyeka.

There were bookings for Erling Haaland and Joao Cancelo from Man City, and Bryan Mbeumo and Mathias Jensen, for Brentford.

Man City will next play Leeds United away, with Brentford facing Tottenham Hotspur at home.
