Liverpool 1 – The Hammers 0: The Reds triumph over The Irons at Anfield

West Ham United on away loss to Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday. Both Liverpool and The Hammers arrived on the back of wins. Liverpool were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games in the league. The most recent was against the Leeds United at home (6-0), the other to Norwich City at home (3-1). The Hammers, on the other hand, were looking to extend their winning run after a 1-0 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Following today’s result, Liverpool are in 2nd place, with 63 points from 28 matches, while The Hammers sit in 5th, with 45 points from 28.

Liverpool started the first half well, thanks to a goal from Sadio Mane, 27 minutes in, finishing the first half 1-0. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Both managers used the full entitlement. For Liverpool, Diogo Jota, James Milner and Curtis Jones, came on for Mohamed Salah, Naby Keita and Luis Diaz, The Hammers brought on Said Benrahma, Mark Noble and Daniel Chesters to replace Jarrod Bowen, Nikola Vlasic and Pablo Fornals.

There were bookings for Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane from Liverpool, and Craig Dawson, for The Hammers.

Liverpool will next play Brighton & Hove Albion away, with The Hammers facing Aston Villa at home.
