Liverpool 2 – Watford 0: The Hornets unable to avoid defeat at Anfield

Liverpool beat Watford with a thumping 2-0 victory on Saturday at Anfield. Both Liverpool and Watford arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Liverpool were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two games against Arsenal away and Brighton & Hove Albion away, by 2-0 and 2-0 respectively. Watford were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-1 victory against Southampton. At the moment, Liverpool are in 1st place, with 72 points from 31 matches, while Watford sit in 18th, with 22 points from 31.
Liverpool started the first half well, with a goal from Diogo Jota, at 22 minutes, ending the first half 1-0.
The Reds continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Fabinho just before the final whistle. The game ended 2-0 to Liverpool.
Both coaches used the full entitlement. For Liverpool, Fabinho, Sadio Mane and James Milner, came on for Curtis Jones, Mohamed Salah and Thiago, Watford brought on Tom Cleverley, Joshua King and Emmanuel Dennis, to replace Imran Louza, Joao Pedro and Cucho Hernandez.
There were bookings for Joe Gomez from Liverpool, and Cucho Hernandez, for Watford.
Liverpool will next travel to Manchester City, while Watford will face Leeds United at home.
