Leicester 4-1 Soton: The Foxes cruise to a home win over the Saints

Southampton suffered an away defeat against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday. Leicester were looking to continue their run after winning their previous two matches against Watford away and Norwich City at home, by 5-1 and 3-0 respectively. Soton lost 2-1 in the last match they played against Liverpool. Following the final whistle at the end of the last game of the Premier League season, Leicester are in 8th place on the table and has 52 points while Soton sit in 15th with 40 points after 38 matches.

After an un-eventful first half, Whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on The Foxes who started the second half well, with an early goal from James Maddison in the 49th minute. The momentum was now with Leicester, who then scored again through a goal from Jamie Vardy, at 74 minutes to establish a 2-0. However, Soton weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from James Ward Prowse, 79 minutes in. However, Leicester increased their advantage 3-1 thanks to a goal from Ayoze Perez, 81 minutes in. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a second effort from Ayoze Perez just before the final whistle with a final score of 4-1.

For Leicester, Ayoze Perez, Ricardo Pereira, Ademola Lookman and Daniel Amartey, came on for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Timothy Castagne, Harvey Barnes and James Maddison. Soton replaced Che Adams, Moussa Djenepo, Shane Long and William Smallbone with Adam Armstrong, Mohamed Elyounoussi, Nathan Redmond and Oriol Romeu.

The referee booked one player from Soton, Oriol Romeu.
