Fulham 1-4 Newcastle: The Magpies deliver against 10-man Cottagers
Newcastle United defeated Fulham 4-1 on Saturday at Craven Cottage. Fulham were looking to pick up points, following a 3-2 victory against Nottingham Forest. Newcastle were struggling for form following a draw in their last match. both teams are now on 11 points and sit in 8th and 7th places respectively after 9 matches.
The first half of the match started well for Newcastle, when Callum Wilson opened the rout, at 11 minutes. The Magpies looked to have the match under control when they scored again to grab the advantage, thanks to a goal from Miguel Almiron, 33 minutes in to establish a 2-0. However they weren’t finished yet and Sean Longstaff made it 3-0 just before half-time, finishing the first half 3-0.
Newcastle continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Miguel Almiron found the net once more on the 57 minute mark. In the end though, The Cottagers then grabbed a goal from Bobby Reid just before the final whistle. The final result, Fulham 1, Newcastle 4.
Substitutions for Fulham included Carlos Vinicius, Issa Diop, Tom Cairney and Neeskens Kebano for Aleksandar Mitrovic, Layvin Kurzawa, Kevin Mbabu and Daniel James, respectively. Newcastle brought on Elliot Anderson, Ryan Fraser, Matt Targett, Jamal Lewis and Jamaal Lascelles, to replace Bruno Guimaraes, Callum Wilson, Dan Burn, Kieran Trippier and Fabian Schar.
The referee booked Aleksandar Mitrovic and Harrison Reed and Nathaniel Chalobah saw the red card, for Fulham.
