Everton 1 – Newcastle 0: The Magpies beaten away by The Toffees

On Thursday, Newcastle United suffer an away defeat to Everton at Goodison Park. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Everton were looking to get back their winning ways after losing their last game 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Newcastle, on the other hand, lost 1-0 in the last match they played against Chelsea. After today’s result, Everton and Newcastle are 17th, (25 points) and 14th, (31 points), in the table respectively, after 20 matches.
Following a goalless first half, Everton applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Alex Iwobi just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 1-0.
For Everton, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Andre Gomes and Andros Townsend, came on for Demarai Gray, Richarlison and Anthony Gordon. Newcastle brought on Allan Saint-Maximin and Jacob Murphy, to replace Miguel Almiron and Ryan Fraser.
The referee booked Richarlison and Anthony Gordon from Everton and Allan went off with a red card, while Newcastle’s Emil Krafth also received a yellow.
Everton will play away against Watford, while Newcastle will face Crystal Palace at home.
