Manchester United eased past Everton in a 2-1 victory on Sunday at Goodison Park. Everton were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games in the league. The most recent was against the Southampton away (2-1), the other to West Ham United at home (1-0). Man U were beaten 6-3 in their previous match against Manchester City. Everton and Man U sit 12th, (10 points) and 5th, (15 points), in the table respectively, after 10 matches.

The Toffees dominated the first half, with an early goal from Alex Iwobi in the 5th minute. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Antony producing an equaliser, at 15 minutes, bringing Man U level. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Cristiano Ronaldo just before half-time, to take a 2-1 lead into half time. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 2-1.

Substitutions for Everton included Dwight McNeil, James Garner, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Salomon Rondon for Anthony Gordon, Seamus Coleman, Idrissa Gueye and Neal Maupay, respectively. Man U brought on Cristiano Ronaldo, Scott Mctominay and Raphael Varane, to replace Anthony Martial, Christian Eriksen and Antony.

There were bookings for Amadou Mvom Onana and Anthony Gordon from Everton, and Scott Mctominay, for Man U.

Everton will next play Tottenham Hotspur away, with Man U facing Newcastle United at home.
