Everton 0 – Man City 1: The Toffees suffer home loss to Cityzens

Manchester City defeat Everton 1-0 on Saturday at Goodison Park. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Everton were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last game 2-0 to Southampton. Man City were beaten 3-2 in the previous match against Tottenham Hotspur. As things stand, Everton and Man City currently occupy 17th and 1st spots in the table, with 22 points and 63 points respectively after 27 matches.

Following a goalless first half, Cityzens continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Phil Foden giving Man City the lead, 81 minutes in, which sealed the victory for the visitors.

For Everton, Dele Alli, Demarai Gray and Anwar El Ghazi, came on for Donny Van De Beek, Anthony Gordon and Alex Iwobi. Man City brought on Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus, to replace Ilkay Gundogan and Raheem Sterling.

There were bookings for Donny Van De Beek, Allan and Dele Alli from Everton, and Ederson and Phil Foden, for Man City.

Everton will next travel to Tottenham Hotspur, while Man City will face Manchester United at home.
