Crystal Palace 1-0 Southampton: Odsonne Edouard gives The Eagles a win

Crystal Palace’s 1-0 win over Southampton on Saturday, was hard fought at Selhurst Park. Palace arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing their last match 3-0 to Everton. Soton had secured a point against Arsenal in their previous match. Palace and Soton are 10th, (16 points) and 16th, (12 points), in the league respectively, after 14 matches.

Palace started the match strongly, when Odsonne Edouard found the net, at 38 minutes, and they saw out the first half 1-0. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Substitutions for Palace included Jordan Ayew, Will Hughes and Jairo Riedewald for Eberechi Eze, Odsonne Edouard and Michael Olise, respectively. Soton brought on Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Samuel Edozie, Moussa Djenepo and Sekou Mara, to replace Ibrahima Diallo, Mohamed Elyounoussi, Romain Perraud and Stuart Armstrong.

There were bookings for Wilfried Zaha, Odsonne Edouard and Tyrick Mitchell from Palace. For Soton, Lyanco, Mohammed Salisu and Mohamed Elyounoussi saw yellow.

Palace will next travel to West Ham United, while Soton will face Newcastle United at home.
