On Saturday, West Ham United suffered an away defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing 2-1 to Southampton in their last match. The Hammers, meanwhile, had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with Tottenham Hotspur. Chelsea and The Hammers currently occupy 5th and 17th spots in the table, with 10 points and 4 points respectively after 6 matches.

After an uneventful first half, The Hammers took the initiative in the second half, when Michail Antonio found the net, 62 minutes in. However, their lead was short-lived, as an equalizer from Ben Chilwell, 76 minutes in, brought Chelsea level. However they weren’t finished yet and Kai Havertz made it 2-1 just before the full time to make it 2-1.

Substitutions for Chelsea included Armando Broja, Mason Mount, Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz and Jorginho for Conor Gallagher, Christian Pulisic, Marc Cucurella, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, respectively. The Hammers brought on Said Benrahma, Angelo Ogbonna and Maxwel Cornet, to replace Michail Antonio, Lucas Paqueta and Pablo Fornals.

There were bookings for Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Marc Cucurella, Reece James and Kai Havertz from Chelsea, and Michail Antonio and Thilo Kehrer, for The Hammers.

Chelsea will next travel to Fulham, while The Hammers will face Newcastle United at home.
