Burnley 3 – Everton 2: The Toffees unable to avoid defeat at Turf Moor

On Wednesday, Everton suffer an away defeat to Burnley at Turf Moor. Both Burnley and Everton arrived at the match from previous defeats in the league. Burnley were looking forward to meeting again after losing 2-0 to Manchester City in their last match. Everton, on the other hand, were beaten 2-1 in the previous match against West Ham United. As it stands, Burnley and Everton currently occupy 18th and 17th spots in the table, with 24 points and 25 points respectively after 19 matches.
Burnley started the first half well, thanks to Nathan Collins giving Burnley the lead, 12 minutes in. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Richarlison, 18 minutes in brought The Toffees level. Everton then scored again and turned the match thanks to a penalty second effort from Richarlison just before half-time. The score at half time was 1-2.
The Clarets continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Jay Rodriguez, 57 minutes in. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Maxwel Cornet just before the final whistle with a final score of 3-2.
For Burnley, Matthew Lowton, Matej Vydra and Dwight McNeil, came on for Connor Roberts, Wout Weghorst and Aaron Lennon. Everton brought on Demarai Gray and Salomon Rondon, to replace Anthony Gordon and Mason Holgate.
There were bookings for Josh Brownhill and Matthew Lowton from Burnley. For Everton, Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey saw yellow.
Burnley will next play Norwich City away, with Everton facing Manchester United at home.
