Brentford 5-2 Leeds: Toney hattrick inpsires the Bees to big home win

Brentford suffered an away loss to Brentford on Saturday at Brentford Community Stadium. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were each keen to pick up points. Brentford were looking for a victory after a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace. Leeds, meanwhile, had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with Everton. Brentford are now in 7th place, with 9 points from 6 matches, while Leeds sit in 9th, with 8 points from 6.

Brentford didn’t take long to get on the score-sheet, when Ivan Toney opened the rout, at 30 minutes. The Bees looked to have the match under control when they scored again to grab the advantage, thanks to a effort from Ivan Toney, 43 minutes in to establish a 2-0. However, Leeds then grabbed a goal from Luis Sinisterra just before half-time, finishing the first half 2-1.

The Bees once more applied the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Ivan Toney found the net once more, 58 minutes in. However, The Whites refused to lie down and managed to pull back a goal from Marc Roca after 79 minutes. Brentford increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Bryan Mbeumo in the 80th minute. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Yoane Wissa just before the full time to make it 5-2.

Substitutions for Brentford included Frank Onyeka, Pelenda Da Silva, Zanka, Yoane Wissa and Mikkel Damsgaard for Shandon Baptiste, Keane Lewis-Potter, Vitaly Janelt, Bryan Mbeumo and Mathias Jensen, respectively. Leeds brought on Patrick Bamford, Mateusz Klich, Crysencio Summerville, Luke Ayling and Sam Greenwood, to replace Jack Harrison, Joe Gelhardt, Luis Sinisterra, Cody Drameh and Marc Roca.

There were bookings for Mikkel Damsgaard and Aaron Hickey from Brentford. For Leeds, Luis Sinisterra and Mateusz Klich saw yellow.

Brentford will next play Southampton away, with Leeds facing Nottingham Forest at home.
