Brentford 1 – Leeds 2: The Whites get valuable away win at Brentford Community Stadium

Brentford succumbed to a home defeat against Leeds United at Brentford Community Stadium on Sunday. Brentford were looking to continue their run after winning their previous two games against Everton away and Southampton at home, by 3-2 and 3-0 respectively. Leeds had to settle for a draw 1-1 against Brighton & Hove Albion. This left, Brentford and Leeds are 13th (46 points) and 17th (38 points) in the league respectively, after a total of 38 matches.

Following a goalless first half, The Whites continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Raphinha, 56 minutes in. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Sergi Canos managed to equalize and take the sides off at the 78 minute mark at 1-1. Leeds in turn, then responded just before the final whistle increasing their lead with an effort from Jack Harrison. The game ended with a 2-1 victory for the visitors.

For Brentford, Pelenda Da Silva, Sergi Canos and Shandon Baptiste, came on for Mathias Jensen, Rico Henry and Mads Bech Sorensen. Leeds replaced Pascal Struijk and Mateusz Klich with Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood.

The referee booked David Raya, Sergi Canos and Ivan Toney from Brentford and Sergi Canos (2 yellow cards) went off with a red card, while Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips also received a yellow.
