Bournemouth 0-1 Southampton: The Saints enjoy narrow away win

Southampton beated Bournemouth 1-0 on Wednesday at the Vitality Stadium. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were each keen to pick up points. Bournemouth were looking for a victory following a 2-2 draw with Fulham in their previous game. Soton had secured a point against West Ham United in their previous match. Bournemouth are now in 11th place, with 13 points from 12 matches, while Soton sit in 14th, with 11 points from 12.

Soton started the first half well, when Che Adams found the net in the 9th minute to take them into the break 1-0 up. The second half ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

Substitutions for Bournemouth included Junior Stanislas, Joe Rothwell, Siriki Dembele and Kieffer Moore for Ryan Christie, Marcos Senesi, Ryan Fredericks and Philip Billing, respectively. Soton replaced Lyanco, Stuart Armstrong, Ibrahima Diallo, Juan Larios and Moussa Djenepo with Joe Aribo, Kyle Walker-Peters, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Romain Perraud and Adam Armstrong.

There were bookings for Chris Mepham from Bournemouth, and Romain Perraud, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Stuart Armstrong, for Soton.

Bournemouth will next play West Ham United away, with Soton facing Arsenal at home.
