Villa on home loss to West Ham United at Villa Park on Sunday. Both Villa and The Hammers arrived at the match from previous defeats in the league. Villa were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last match 3-1 to Crystal Palace. The Hammers, on the other hand, were beaten 2-0 in the previous match against Brighton & Hove Albion. As it stands, both teams are on 3 points and occupy 15th and 16th places respectively after 4 matches.

After a goalless first half, The Hammers continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Pablo Fornals, 74 minutes in. The final result, Villa 0, The Hammers 1.

Substitutions for Villa included Emiliano Buendia, Jacob Ramsey, Leon Bailey and Cameron Archer for Philippe Coutinho, Douglas Luiz, Danny Ings and John McGinn, repectively. The Hammers brought on Vladimir Coufal, Said Benrahma and Michail Antonio, to replace Ben Johnson, Emerson and Gianluca Scamacca.

The referee booked Matty Cash and Boubacar Kamara for Villa.

Villa will play their next fixture away against Arsenal, while The Hammers will face Tottenham Hotspur at home.
