Villa 4 – Soton 0: The Saints lose to a 5 star The Villa

Villa enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Southampton at Villa Park on Saturday. Both sides arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Villa were looking to pick up points after winning last match. Soton were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Norwich City and Everton. As the table looks today, Villa are in 11th place on the table and has 33 points while Soton sit in 9th with 35 points after 28 matches.
Villa didn’t take long to start the rout, with Ollie Watkins opening the rout in the 9th minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Douglas Luiz made it 2-0 just before half-time to see out the first half 2-0.
The Villa fought back, with a goal from Philippe Coutinho at the 52 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Danny Ings in the 54th minute to make it 4-0.
Both managers used all available substitutions. For Villa, Morgan Sanson, Leon Bailey and Emiliano Buendia, came on for Danny Ings, Jacob Ramsey and Philippe Coutinho, Soton brought on Yann Valery, Kyle Walker-Peters and Ibrahima Diallo, to replace Mohamed Elyounoussi, Romain Perraud and Oriol Romeu.
There were bookings for Ollie Watkins from Villa, and Oriol Romeu, for Soton.
Villa will play away against West Ham United, while Soton will face Watford at home.
