On Saturday, Villa and Man City played out a 1-1 draw at Villa Park. Villa were hoping to get something from this game after losing 2-1 to Arsenal in their previous fixture. Man City were coming from consecutive wins against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace. Villa and Man City currently occupy 17th and 2nd spots in the league, with 4 points and 14 points respectively after 6 matches.

After an uneventful first half, Man City certainly were out of the blocks quickly in the second half, with an early goal from Erling Haaland in the 50th minute. In the end though, their lead was short-lived, as Leon Bailey equalised for Villa, 74 minutes in, to level the score at 1-1.

Substitutions for Villa included Ashley Young, Philippe Coutinho and Emiliano Buendia for Matty Cash, John McGinn and Leon Bailey, respectively. Man City brought on Riyad Mahrez and Nathan Ake, to replace Bernardo Silva and Kyle Walker.

The referee booked Matty Cash and Lucas Digne for Villa.

Villa will next travel to Leicester City, while Man City will face Tottenham Hotspur at home.
