Aston Villa 2-1 Everton: The Toffees slip to defeat at Villa Park

Everton on away loss to Villa at Villa Park on Saturday. Both sides came from defeats in their previous league games. Villa were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Bournemouth. Everton were beaten 1-0 in the previous match against Chelsea. As the table looks today, both teams are on 0 points and sit in 16th and 15th places respectively after 2 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Villa, when Danny Ings gave The Villa the lead, 31 minutes in. They then managed to see out the first half 1-0.

Villa continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Emiliano Buendia found the net in the 86th minute. In the end though, The Toffees just before the final whistle pull-back via a Lucas Digne goal. The final result, Villa 2, Everton 1.

Substitutions for Villa included Emiliano Buendia, Leon Bailey, Ashley Young, Ezri Konsa and Calum Chambers for Philippe Coutinho, Danny Ings, Matty Cash, Jacob Ramsey and Diego Carlos, repectively. Everton brought on Tom Davies, Salomon Rondon, Dele Alli and Amadou Mvom Onana, to replace Abdoulaye Doucoure, Dwight McNeil, Conor Coady and Demarai Gray.

There were bookings for Philippe Coutinho, Lucas Digne, Danny Ings and Ashley Young from Villa. For Everton, Tom Davies saw yellow.

Villa will next travel to Crystal Palace, while Everton will face Nottingham Forest at home.
