Aston Villa 0-2 Chelsea: Mount the man as Blues extend winning streak

Villa were defeated at home by Chelsea at Villa Park on Sunday. Villa were looking for a victory after a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest. Chelsea were hoping to continue their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace. Villa are now in 16th place, with 9 points from 11 matches, while Chelsea sit in 4th, with 19 points from 11.

Chelsea started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with a goal from Mason Mount after only 6 minutes to see out the first half 1-0.

The Blues continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Mason Mount found the net once more in the 65th minute, seing the match finish 2-0.

Substitutions for Villa included Emiliano Buendia, Philippe Coutinho and Leander Dendoncker for Leon Bailey, John McGinn and Jacob Ramsey, respectively. Chelsea brought on Kalidou Koulibaly, Cesar Azpilicueta, Conor Gallagher, Jorginho and Armando Broja, to replace Kai Havertz, Marc Cucurella, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mateo Kovacic and Raheem Sterling.

The referee booked three players from Chelsea, Ben Chilwell, Kalidou Koulibaly and Mason Mount.

Next up, Villa are away to Fulham, whilst Chelsea will travel to face Brentford.
