Arsenal 3 – Man U 1: Visitors to Emirates Stadium leave with nothing

Manchester United fell to an away defeat at the hands of Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Arsenal were looking forward to meeting again after losing their last game 1-0 to Southampton. Man U were able to continue their winning streak after a 3-2 win against Norwich City in their last match. After today’s result, Arsenal are in 4th place, with 60 points from 34 matches, while Man U sit in 6th, with 54 points from 34.

Arsenal started the first half well, thanks to an early goal from Nuno Tavares in the 3rd minute. The Gunners looked to have the game under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Bukayo Saka at the 32 minute mark to establish a 2-0. However, Man U hit back though, 34 minutes in, with a goal from Cristiano Ronaldo, finishing the first half 2-1.

Arsenal continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Granit Xhaka finding the net after 70 minutes. The game ended with a 3-1 home victory.

Both coaches used all available substitutions. For Arsenal, Gabriel Martinelli, Rob Holding and Takehiro Tomiyasu, came on for Emile Smith-Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Cedric Soares, Man U brought on Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata to replace Nemanja Matic, Anthony Elanga and Bruno Fernandes.

There were bookings for Granit Xhaka, Nuno Tavares and Mohamed Elneny from Arsenal, and Alex Telles, Bruno Fernandes, Victor Lindelof and Cristiano Ronaldo, for Man U.

Arsenal will play their next fixture away against West Ham United, while Man U will face Brentford at home.
