Arsenal 4-2 Leicester: Inspired Jesus lifts the Gunners past Leicester
Leicester City fell to an away defeat at the hands of Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Arsenal were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning last match. Leicester are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. Following today’s result, Arsenal are in 2nd place in the table and have 6 points while Leicester sit in 13th with 1 point after 2 matches.
Arsenal started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Gabriel Jesus gave The Gunners the lead at the 23 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a 2nd effort from Gabriel Jesus, 35 minutes in, finishing the first half 2-0.
Leicester started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, when William Saliba found the net at the 53 minute mark. Arsenal extended the margin thanks to a goal from Granit Xhaka, 55 minutes in. However, The Foxes weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from James Maddison in the 74th minute. In the end though, Arsenal at the 75 minute mark increased their lead following a Gabriel Martinelli goal. The final result, Arsenal 4, Leicester 2.
Substitutions for Arsenal included Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kieran Tierney, Emile Smith-Rowe and Edward Nketiah for Ben White, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus, repectively. Leicester replaced Dennis Praet, Patson Daka and Kelechi Iheanacho with Youri Tielemans, Daniel Amartey and Jamie Vardy.
