Toronto 2-1 Atlanta: The Reds dig out a victory at BMO Field

Toronto FC beat Atlanta United with a thumping 2-1 victory on Sunday at BMO Field. Following today’s result, Phili and Atlanta currently occupy 10th and 9th spots in the table, with 18 points and 19 points respectively after 22 matches.

Phili started strongly in the first half, when Osorio found the net, at 8 minutes, to take a 1-0 lead into half time.

Atlanta took the initiative in the second half, when Luiz Araujo found the net, at 57 minutes. Phili in turn, then responded, 79 minutes in increasing their lead with an effort from Priso-Mbongue so at full time it was 2-1 to Phili.

Substitutions for Phili included Kerr, Priso-Mbongue, Marshall-Ruty, Shaffelburg and O’Neill for Nelson, Osorio, Jesús Jiménez, Petrasso and Akinola, repectively. Atlanta brought on Rossetto, Amar Sejdic, Machop Chol and Dwyer, to replace Franco Ibarra, Hyndman, McFadden and Luiz Araujo.

There were bookings for Nelson and Salcedo from Phili. For Atlanta, Moreno and Luiz Araujo saw yellow.
