Vancouver Whitecaps beat Sporting Kansas City with a thumping 1-0 victory on Sunday at Children’s Mercy Park. Kansas wanted to improve their league standing following a disappointing 1-1 draw with San Jose in their previous game. Caps lost 2-1 in the last match they played against Charlotte FC. After today’s result, Kansas are currently 14th with 13 points from 20 matches, while Caps sit in 12th, with 14 points from 20.

Caps started strongly in the first half, thanks to Cavallini finding the net at the 24 minute mark, to take a 0-1 lead into half time. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the game ended 1-0.

For Kansas, Pierre, Tzionis and Isimat-Mirin, came on for Sweat, Rosell and Fontàs. Caps replaced Caicedo, Baldisimo, Godoy, Raposo and Martins with Dájome, Owusu, Gutiérrez, Berhalter and Godinho.

There were bookings for Ford, Fontàs and Russell from Kansas, and Berhalter and Gutiérrez, for Caps.
