Kansas 4-1 Portland: Wizards secure comfortable win at Sporting

Portland Timbers on away loss to Kansas at Children’s Mercy Park on Monday. Following today’s result, Kansas are currently 14th with 26 points from 38 matches, while Portland sit in 10th, with 33 points from 38.

Kansas dominated the first half, when Agada opened the rout at the 31 minute mark. The momentum was now with Kansas, who then scored again through a goal from Fontàs, at 40 minutes to establish a 2-0. However they weren’t finished yet and Thommy made it 3-0 just before halftime, ending the first half 3-0.

Wizards continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Agada found the net again, at 75 minutes. In the end though, Portland secured the points emphatically, with a goal from Blanco just before the final whistle so at full time it was 4-1 to Kansas.

Substitutions for Kansas included Hernandez, Tzionis, Shelton and Duke for Espinoza, Russell, Agada and Thommy, repectively. Portland brought on Asprilla, Mcgraw, Tuiloma, Loria and Paredes, to replace Niezgoda, Mabiala, Van Rankin, Bravo and Williamson.

There were bookings for Sweat from Kansas. For Portland, Mcgraw and Chará saw yellow.
