San Jose 2-2 Real Salt Lake: Real fight back twice to share the points at San Jose

On Sunday, San Jose and RSL were held to a 2-2 draw at Avaya Stadium. After today’s result, San Jose are currently 13th with 23 points from 31 matches, while RSL sit in 3rd, with 34 points from 31.

Quakes started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, thanks to a goal from Espinoza at the 12 minute mark. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Löffelsend equalised for RSL at the 21 minute mark, which brought Pablo Mastroeni’s squad level at 1-1 at the half time break

San Jose took the initiative in the second half, when Ebobisse found the net, at 62 minutes. In the end though, their lead was short lived, as Savarino equalised for Claret and Cobalt just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 2-2.

Substitutions for San Jose included Gregus, Marie, Cowell, Bouda and Salinas for Remedi, Thompson, Espinoza, Benjamin Kikanovic and Ebobisse, repectively. RSL brought on Caldwell, Julio, Luna and Méndez, to replace Nick Besler, Chang, Löffelsend and Córdova.

There were bookings for Espinoza, Yueill and Gregus from San Jose. For RSL, Glad, Macmath, Chang and Savarino saw yellow.
