Real Salt Lake 2-2 Colorado Rapids: Hosts fail to hold on to advantage at Rio Tinto Stadium

RSL were held to 2-2 draw by COLO down on Sunday at Rio Tinto Stadium. As the table looks today, RSL are in 3rd place in the table and have 30 points while COLO sit in 12th with 20 points after 27 matches.

Claret and Cobalt started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, thanks to a goal from Savarino just before halftime

RSL started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with a goal from Meram in the 51st minute. However, COLO weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Rubio, 67 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Abubakar made it 2-2 just before the final whistle with a final score of 2-2.

Substitutions for RSL included Meram, Méndez, Nick Besler, Luna and Caldwell for Julio, Ruiz, Córdova, Savarino and Löffelsend, repectively. COLO brought on Barrios, Lucas Esteves and Dantouma Toure, to replace Nicholson, Beitashour and Max.

There were bookings for Macmath, Ruiz, Meram and Nick Besler from RSL. For COLO, Wilson, Acosta and Max saw yellow.
