Portland 2-1 Atlanta: Portland pick up three points at Providence

Atlanta United on away loss to Portland at Providence Park on Monday. Portland are currently 6th with 42 points from 41 matches, while Atlanta sit in 11th, with 33 points from 41.

Portland started strongly in the first half, when Moreno found the net in the 36th minute to take them into the break 1-0 up.

The Timbers continued to pile on the pressure in the second half and were rewarded, when Asprilla found the net, at 81 minutes. In the end though, Atlanta pull-back via a Josef Martinez goal just before the full time, seing the match finish 2-1.

Substitutions for Portland included Niezgoda, David Ayala and Loria for Blanco, Chará and Paredes, respectively. Atlanta brought on Amar Sejdic, Josef Martinez, Mosquera, Moreno and Machop Chol, to replace Franco Ibarra, Cisneros, Caleb Wiley, Sosa and Luiz Araujo.

The referee booked Asprilla for Portland.
