Philadelphia 6-0 Colorado: Gazdag bags a hattrick as Union hammer Rapids

Philadelphia Union’s 6-0 win over Colorado Rapids on Sunday, was hard fought at Subaru Park. After today’s result, Union are in 1st place in the table and have 54 points while COLO sit in 11th with 32 points after 38 matches.

Union dominated the first half, when Gazdag opened the rout at the 9 minute mark. The momentum was now with Union, who then scored again through a effort from Gazdag at the 20 minute mark to establish a 2-0. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Carranza, 30 minutes in to see out the first half 3-0.

Union continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Gazdag found the net again at the 84 minute mark. Union looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Burke, 87 minutes in to establish a 5-0. However they weren’t finished yet and Real made it 6-0 just before the final whistle to make it 6-0.

Substitutions for Union included Burke, Jack Mcglynn, Aaronson, Real and Sullivan for Carranza, José Martinez, Uhre, Bedoya and Gazdag, repectively. COLO brought on Abubakar, Moor, Lucas Esteves, Darren Yapi and Gutierrez, to replace Wilson, Abubakar, Zardes, Barrios and Priso-Mbongue.
