Orlando 2-1 NYC: The Lions close the gap on The Pigeons with victory

Orlando City eased past New York in a 2-1 victory on Monday at Exploria Stadium. After today’s result, Orlando and NYC currently occupy 5th and 3rd spots in the table, with 39 points and 45 points respectively after 39 matches.

The Lions started strongly in the first half, when Júnior Urso gave Orlando the lead after only 7 minutes, finishing the first half 1-0.

The Pigeons started the second half with an intensified spirit, with a goal from Moralez at the 53 minute mark. In the end though, Orlando just before the final whistle took the victory following a Akindele goal. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 2-1 to Orlando.

Substitutions for Orlando included Araujo, Angulo, Perea, Akindele and Smith for Kara, Cartagena, Mulraney, Michel and Ruan, repectively. NYC replaced Gray, Andres Jasson and Heber with Martins, Andrade and Talles Magno.

There were bookings for Antônio Carlos from Orlando. For NYC, Haak, Moralez and Chanot saw yellow.
