NYC 1-2 D.C.: Black-and-Red produce strong away day against The Pigeons

D.C. United beated New York 2-1 on Thursday at Yankee Stadium. NYC are now in 12th place, with 4 points from 8 matches, while D.C. sit in 6th, with 9 points from 8.

D.C. started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with a goal from Kamara, at 24 minutes. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Heber equalised for NYC in the 27th minute to see out the first half 1-1.

Black-and-Red continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Birnbaum, 57 minutes in, seing the match finish 2-1.

Substitutions for NYC included Latinovich, Zelalem, Andrade, Moralez and Pellegrini for Tinnerholm, Gabriel Pereira, Haak, Heber and Amundsen, respectively. D.C. brought on Benteke, Morrison and Fletcher, to replace Kamara, Rodríguez and Miguel Berry.

There were bookings for Acevedo, Amundsen and Latinovich from NYC, and Odoi-Atsem, Rodríguez and Fletcher, for D.C.
