Austin fell to an away defeat at the hands of Nashville SC at Nissan Stadium on Sunday. Nashville are now in 4th place, with 45 points from 41 matches, while Austin sit in 2nd, with 51 points from 41.

Following a goalless first half, whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on Nashville who started the second half strongly, with an early goal from Zimmerman in the 49th minute. The momentum was again with Nashville, who then scored again courtesy of a goal from Mukhtar, 82 minutes in to establish a 2-0 result. Nashville then scored again and increased their lead thanks to a 2nd effort from Mukhtar just before the full time to give a final score of 3-0.

Substitutions for Nashville included Godoy, Haakenson, Bunbury and Maher for Davis, Shaffelburg, Sapong and Muyl, respectively. Austin replaced Ring, Nick Lima, Djitte, Rigoni and Felipe Martins with Wolff, Kolmanic, Hoesen, Finlay and Fagundez.

The referee booked Mukhtar from Nashville. Austin had the worst of it though, with Fagundez, Cascante, Nick Lima and Djitte seeing yellow, and Djitte (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.

Nashville will play their next fixture at home against LA Galaxy, while Austin will face Seattle Sounders away.
