Montréal 2-2 Columbus: The Crew throw away a two-goal lead at Stade Saputo

MON were helde ach other to a 2-2 draw by Columbus on Saturday at Stade Saputo. MON and Columbus currently occupy 2nd and 6th spots in the table, with 53 points and 41 points respectively after 42 matches.

After an uneventful first half, Columbus took the initiative in the second half, when Mensah found the net in the 66th minute. The momentum was again with The Crew, who then scored again courtesy of a goal from Zelarayán on the 68 minute mark to establish a 2-0 result. However, MON refused to lie down and managed to pull back a goal from Wanyama in the 89th minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Brault-Guillard made it 2-2 just before the full time to make it 2-2.

Substitutions for MON included Kamara, Brault-Guillard, Kwizera, Torres and Miljevic for Toye, Waterman, Choiniere, Piette and Camacho, respectively. Columbus brought on Artur, Williams and Hurtado, to replace Zelarayán, Etienne and Cucho.

The referee booked Camacho and Waterman from MON. Columbus had the worst of it though, with Díaz seeing yellow, and Díaz then sent off with a red.

MON will play their next fixture at home against Chicago Fire, while Columbus will face Inter Miami away.
