Los Angeles 3-2 San Jose: No joy for San Jose despite their fightback against LA

Los Angeles FC beat San Jose with a thumping 3-2 victory on Sunday at Banc of California Stadium. Los Angeles were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning last match. San Jose, on the other hand, secured a point against Sporting Kansas City in their previous match. Following today’s result, Los Angeles are in 1st place, with 29 points from 19 matches, while San Jose sit in 11th, with 14 points from 19.

The Black and Gold started the first half well, with Arango finding the net early in the first half. The momentum was now with Los Angeles, who then scored again through a goal from Hollingshead at the 13 minute mark to establish a 2-0. However, Quakes weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Ebobisse in the 16th minute. San Jose looked to have the game under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a 2nd effort from Ebobisse, 31 minutes in to establish a 2-2. Los Angeles in turn, then responded just before half-time increasing their lead with an effort from Rodríguez to see out the first half 3-2. Both teams unable to deliver anything further, the score remained at 3-2 at full time.

For Los Angeles, Danny Musovski, Opoku and Crisostomo, came on for Arango, Rodríguez and Ginella. San Jose brought on López, Benjamin Kikanovic, Judson and Salinas, to replace Cowell, Thompson, Remedi and Marie.

There were bookings for Rodríguez, Danny Musovski, Kellyn Acosta and Crisostomo from Los Angeles. For San Jose, Espinoza saw yellow.
