Galaxy 2-3 San Jose: Quakes edge high-scoring contest

Galaxy on home loss to San Jose at StubHub Center on Thursday. After today’s result, Galaxy and San Jose sit 6th, (27 points) and 12th, (22 points), in the table respectively, after 28 matches.

San Jose started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Espinoza gave Quakes the lead at the 13 minute mark. San Jose looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Ebobisse, 14 minutes in to establish a 2-0. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from López just before halftime, finishing the first half 3-0.

Galaxy started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with an early goal from Joveljic in the 48th minute. Galaxy then netted once more and hit back though thanks to a 2nd effort from Joveljic just before the final whistle with a final score of 3-2.

Substitutions for Galaxy included Cabral, Costa, Chase Gasper and Klještan for Víctor Vázquez, Grandsir, Edwards and Aguirre, repectively. San Jose brought on Salinas, Gregus, Cowell, Thompson and Jack Skahan, to replace Benjamin Kikanovic, Remedi, Espinoza, Marie and Ebobisse.

There were bookings for Grandsir from Galaxy. For San Jose, López saw yellow.

Galaxy will next travel to Colorado Rapids, while San Jose will face Houston Dynamo at home.
