Houston 2-3 Montreal: The Impact win tight tussle with Houston

Montréal snatched all three points from Houston Dynamo in a 3-2 victory on Sunday, at BBVA Compass Stadium. After today’s result, Houston and MON currently occupy 12th and 2nd spots in the league, with 25 points and 43 points respectively after 35 matches.

Orange Crush started the match well, when Sebastián Ferreira found the net, 12 minutes in. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Quioto producing an equaliser at the 14 minute mark, bringing MON level. MON looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Johnston at the 28 minute mark to establish a 2-1. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Steres equalised for Houston, 36 minutes in, concluding the first half 2-2.

MON continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Lappalainen found the net at the 69 minute mark. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 3-2 to MON.

Substitutions for Houston included Micael, Lundqvist, Dorsey, Úlfarsson and Baird for Memo Rodríguez, Junqua, Valentin, Picault and Quintero, repectively. MON replaced Torres, Brault-Guillard, Kamara, Wanyama and Thorkelsson with Koné, Camacho, Quioto, Lappalainen and Choiniere.

There were bookings for Micael and Carrasquilla from Houston. For MON, Corbo, Johnston and Quioto saw yellow.
