D.C. United 0-6 Union: Six of the best for Philly as Carranza nets a hattrick

D.C. on Sunday lost to Philadelphia Union on a home defeat at Audi Field. After today’s result, D.C. are in 14th place, with 22 points from 37 matches, while Union sit in 1st, with 51 points from 37.

Union started strongly in the first half, when Uhre opened the rout, 37 minutes in. The momentum was now with Union, who then scored again through a goal from Gazdag in the 45th minute to establish a 2-0. However they weren’t finished yet and Carranza made it 3-0 just before halftime, which saw the first half end 3-0.

Union continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Carranza found the net again at the 70 minute mark. The momentum was now with Union, who then scored again through a hat trick effort from Carranza, at 74 minutes to establish a 5-0. However they weren’t finished yet and Burke made it 6-0, 80 minutes in to make it 6-0.

Substitutions for D.C. included Kamara, Ku-Dipietro, Smith and Djeffal for Rodríguez, Sami Guediri, Hopkins and Morrison, repectively. Union brought on Burke, Aaronson, Leon Flach, Harriel and Sullivan for Uhre, Gazdag, Bedoya, Mbaizo and Carranza.
