D.C. 2-2 Columbus Crew: United fight back twice to snatch a point

D.C. were held to 2-2 draw by Columbus down on Thursday at Audi Field. As it stands, D.C. are in 14th place in the table and have 18 points while Columbus sit in 7th with 26 points after 27 matches.

After a goalless first half, The Crew fought back the second half, when Cucho gave Columbus the lead in the 62nd minute. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Fountas, 80 minutes in brought Black-and-Red level. However, each side looked hungry to win and Columbus then found the back of the net in the 81st minute thanks to Cucho, taking the score to 2-1. In the end though, their celebrations were kept brief, as Kamara equalised for D.C. just before the final whistle and saw the match end 2-2.

Substitutions for D.C. included Djeffal, Kamara, Smith, Sami Guediri and Ku-Dipietro for Odoi-Atsem, Estrada, Hopkins, Najar and Skundrich, repectively. Columbus brought on Zelarayán, Cucho, Yeboah and Zawadzki for Igbekeme, Hurtado, Díaz and Nagbe.

There were bookings for Odoi-Atsem, Skundrich and Fountas from D.C. For Columbus, Room and Pedro Santos saw yellow.
